When Carpe Dinkem Pickleball launched in November 2025, the goal was simple: create a fun, welcoming and social place where people of all ages and skill levels could enjoy the exciting game of pickleball in Coolum Beach.
What started with a handful of players has quickly grown into one of the most active pickleball communities on the Sunshine Coast.
Humble Beginnings in Coolum Beach
In late 2025, pickleball was still relatively new to many people in the region. Carpe Dinkem Pickleball was founded with a vision to make the sport accessible, affordable and enjoyable for everyone.
From the very beginning, the emphasis was on creating a community rather than simply running sessions. New players were encouraged to give the sport a try, experienced players were welcomed, and everyone shared a common goal – to have fun and enjoy the game.
Rapid Growth Throughout 2026
Word spread quickly throughout Coolum Beach and the Sunshine Coast. Friends invited friends, visitors joined sessions while holidaying in the area, and many people discovered just how addictive and social pickleball can be.
Over the months, attendance continued to increase as more regular sessions were added. Beginners, competitive players, retirees, families and young adults all became part of the growing community.
Today, more than 550 members and players have attended Carpe Dinkem Pickleball sessions, making it one of the largest and fastest-growing pickleball groups on the Sunshine Coast.
